Soundtrack to the Holidays

10 October 200901:49PMplaylist

Hey! This post is really old. You should take it with a grain of salt.

Rockwell's October Holidays, 2009. Track Listing:

01 - 'O Canada' For the last day of school, where I attempted to sing the Canadian national anthem in place of our own in assembly, much to the embarrassment of Graham.

02 - The Rocky Horror Picture Show - 'The Time Warp' This was the highlight of the Royal Show (At which I spent a grand total of 2 hours and $1) - when the Time Warp came on during the fireworks and we ended up dancing, along with half the audience (the other half wondered what the hell was going on!)

03 - Rick Astley - 'Never Gonna Give You Up' From the camping trip. Lacking any other songs to which we all knew the words, we back-and-forthed "the Rickroll song", as Sam put it, while we were walking to and from the campsite.

04 - Queen - 'Bicycle Race' Where Freddie Mercury got whimsical and angsty and rejecting of society for his bicycle, we did it with kites. We also had it playing in the background when we tied kites to bikes and had races, but the other explanation is so much more highbrow.

05 - Hans Zimmer - 'Tortuga' (Pirates of the Caribbean II, from the Tavern Scene) This is sort of a combination of 'raiding' the Uni library for Ancients books, and also for all the bus catching I did, as whenever I caught a bus, out came the looped tavern music.

06 - The Lonely Island - 'Jizz in my pants' This song is perpetually mentally associated with Justin, and includes a line about Horror Films, so this is for the Horror Moobie Night at Justin's.

07 - Richard Wagner - 'Ride of the Valkyries' Famous for all kinds of helicopter assaults, Ride of the Valkyries is now associated for me with 50 or so Flying Machines getting owned by a sea of James' towers. This is the only time I've ever seen a standing ovation at a LAN party, much less a LAN party in Formal Attire.

So that's it- two weeks summarised in 6 tracks. Technically there's still 2 days of holidays left, and I have an Ancients assignment, some maths study for the test on the second day back and some revision for French orals still to do, so the fun part is pretty much over. It was great, though. I'd gladly do it again in, ooh, say, 6 weeks? :P
